Terry Farley - Ask the DJ

A new feature of the 'NoWayBack' blog ... We’ve asked them some choice questions in a NoWayBack acid house fashion?

Kicking off with the co-founder of Junior Boys Own. One of the DJ’s on our Originators T-shirt - the legendary Terry Farley.

Along with Andrew Weatherall, the duo started the now notorious Boy's Own fanzine in 1986, which commented on the slang, the parties, the tunes and the humour of the acid house days, and which also lead to the creation of the label Junior Boys Own. This imprint specialised in dance music and put out records by Orbital and Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers..

Terry has recently complied a five-CD box set which traces the Acid House movement - including iconic tunes that were keeping the dancefloors filled in clubs like Shoom, Spectrum and the Hacienda.

To celebrate this launch of the box set, house music legend Marshall Jefferson joins Terry Farley (Acid Thunder curator) and Stuart Patterson for a party of some class, focusing musically on early house, of course some tracks from both albums and current tracks with strong relevance to the night

Acid Rain & Acid Thunder - Definitive Original Acid & Deep House 1985-1991.

Over five discs and 61 tracks on each.. these compilations promise a comprehensive survey of the late 1980s Chicago sound, with major figures like DJ Pierre, Mr. Fingers, Virgo Four, Phuture, Armando, Gene Hunt and Frankie Knuckles all getting the nod. The albums come bundled with a 32-page booklet, featuring photos and flyer artwork from Farley’s own archives.
