Jon Burgerman interview
Jon Burgerman is a UK born, New York City-based artist, who is well-known for his doodle art style. He studied Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University and graduated in 2001, after which he began developing his now pervasive and instantly recognizable aesthetic that exists across a multitude of forms, including canvases, large scale murals, sculpture, toys, apparel, design, print, and people. In 2008, Jon’s 300-page monograph, Pens Are My friends, was published by IdN, collating the first 7 years of his professional career. Jon performs, speaks, and teaches internationally, and has collaborated with well-known brands like Nike, New Era, Sony, Puma, Pepsi, Levi’s, and MTV.
“There’s no substitute for the enthusiasm and joy of making the things you want to make…if you follow the thing you really want to do and work hard at it, you’ll find your place in that world, and maybe work will come to you. You’re more likely to get on when your heart is into it—there’s no other way to make creative work.”
